Gon KiRin is a full scale kinetic 3D representation of a fire-breathing light dragon. She is constructed of steel, car tires, LEDs and many other found objects, upon the frame of a 1963 Dodge w300 dump truck. The hydraulics and controls have been modified to create articulation of the head, neck and tail, which audience members of any age are asked to navigate and operate. Her belly is host to a fully interactive sound system, with a daily performance schedule to be filled with touring artists and local musicians alike.

Venue & Connection Information

The creators of Gon KiRIn believe in; radical self-reliance, immersive interactivity for all ages, and providing a temporary community space for conversation. As artists we have worked for years to remove the velvet rope between Art and Audience with the notion that Art is an experience that demands participation. We do not shun those observers that choose not to participate, however, we do reward participants with opportunities to help more viewers make new observations. Our mostly Detroit based team is comprised of experienced Master Fabricators, Equipment Operators, Lighting Engineers, Licensed Pyrotechnicians, and Internationally-known Artists that regard safety as the most important aspect of our collaboration. We hope to engage with a venue that shares our interactive approach, can work with our team of specialists to create a daily performance schedule, and work with us to obtain the necessary local fire permits, and public-liability insurance policy.
