Bottled Up

“Bottled Up", by Rosanne Coty This piece will be a painting tapping into the human condition, its frailties, and its joy. Various colored glass bottles will be painted to fill the canvas entirely. One bottle will seem to convey the human form, another will suggest a heart. Upon further inspection, the viewer will see a multitude of images within the reflections and nuances of the bottles, or, perhaps, the viewer will see the images first, and the bottles secondary. Mostly involving people, the images will focus on grief, happiness, beauty, and community. The painting is meant to be a window into the soul, encouraging contemplation, and transparency. Although I am typically a Realist, this painting will be more abstract and exploratory. My motivation is in dealing with the wrenching void left in me after the death of an infant daughter. But, also joy will be conveyed! Life is good and beautiful, and although these things can be bottled up, we can persevere.
