I am a Spanish professor at Oakland University where I have taught for 30 years. I received my M. A. and PhD. from Michigan State University in Spanish Language and Literature with a concentration in Art History, studying Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and Modern European avant-garde movements. I have taught about European art (especially the art of Spain and France) for many decades in my undergraduate classes, but only recently took up painting (pastels and watercolors) myself. I owe a debt of gratitude to my teachers and mentors Loren Siffring, Shelley Vitale and Mary Reo, each of whom encouraged me when I was discouraged, and inspired me when I was not feeling terribly optimistic about my artistic abilities. I especially want to thank Dr. Loren Siffring for his special help with this pastel "Cruising His Turf." Photography has also been a favorite past time of mine. Below are several of my paintings as well as numerous photos I took on my travels in the U.S., England, Italy, Turkey, Chile, Peru, Egypt, Vietnam, Cambodia and India. I try to take pictures that evoke a certain mood or tell a special story as I hope the photos below do. If you would like to contact me by email, my email address is email@example.com
