Ron Pederson

Grand Rapids, MI, United States

Minnesota native Ron Pederson moved to Grand Rapids in 1977 to begin a career as an art professor first at Calvin College, then for three decades at Aquinas College, where he maintains his studio after having retired in 2012. Emeritus Professor at Aquinas, he was honored in 2008 by the International Sculpture Center as Educator of the Year. He has exhibited primarily regionally, often with his main collaborator, also his spouse, the poet Miriam Pederson. Ron is delighted to have this opportunity to work together with his son Ben. Like those with Miriam, this collaboration with Ben has generated unexpected combinations of images and resulting ideas, and has been a great joy. The airwaves between Grand Rapids and New York have been humming, and in a way, the sculpture, "True Believers," reflects that intensity.
