Grand Traverse Bay

2012 ArtPrize Entry

Music Inspired by Michigan’s Natural Wonders… A Michigan native through and through, I am constantly amazed by the natural beauty and grandeur that this great state exhibits. The breath-taking power of the Great Lakes, the majestic Sleeping Bear Dunes, the mighty Straits of Mackinac, the Upper Peninsula’s Tahquamenon Falls, Arch Rock on historic Mackinaw Island…these and hundreds of other natural Michigan wonders are well-known and visited regularly by avid beauty seekers. So I set out to create a series of song-pictures, each inspired by a special place or memory of Michigan. "Grand Traverse Bay" came to me after a particularly satisfying sail on that great body of water. Special thanks to the wonderful musicians on this recording: Susan Belliel - violin, Eddie Eicher - percussion, Charlie Hoats - bass, Carlos Melendez - guitar, (Roger MacNaughton - piano)
