In 2010 I retired from a 40 year career of teaching art in the public schools. My favorite art media are watercolor, acrylic and oils, collage, and all forms of fiber arts. I belong to the Woodland Weavers and Spinners Guild, Lakeshore Fiber Arts Guild, Michigan League of Handweavers and Handweavers' Guild of America. My work has been exhibited in various shows through those organizations as well as in Grand Rapids at "Celebration". In 2015 I exhibited at Art Prize with a series of mixed media paintings expressing my experience with breast cancer and survivorship. I now feel I can close that chapter of my life and dedicate my art to the expression of "Joy" since for me life is too short to focus on the tragedies. Recently it has taken the form of dancers, inspired by the song, "Dance, Then, Wherever You May Be", which is the title of one of my previous tapestries shown in my Art Prize portfolio. That piece won an honorable mention in the Michigan League of Handweavers' Biennial Show last spring, and was exhibited at Celebration 2017 in Grand Rapids. I am currently working on the small tapestry "Dancing Queen" as a partner to it and the one I am entering in Art Prize 2017.
