Lost and Found
2012 ArtPrize EntryWhile looking at a magazine picture of a human heart I was moved to do a series of pencil and clay sketches that resulted in clay model of two embracing figures. Often I find that I create art without realizing its significance until sometime after completion. Upon some refection it became apparent to me that the piece expressed reconciliation. After casting the statuette I gave it to my wife as an expression of reconciliation of our relationship early on in our marriage. Also for me it expresses a coming to faith in God after a period of being lost. Although Lost and Found is a very personal expression I chose to enlarge it for Artprize in the hope that others might relate to a time when they were lost but then found through the healing balm of reconciliation.
