"Great Native American Chiefs" is a series of 5 paintings by Chicago area Pop Artist Randal Huiskens. Each painting is 30 inches wide by 40 inches tall, with a stretcher depth of 1.5 inches. Displayed together, with a 12 inch division between each canvas, the entire width would be approximately 198 inches. The canvases may be displayed together, or exhibited within close proximity of each other, in seprate spaces and/or walls within one room. The subject honors 5 great Native American tribal chiefs: Medicine Crow of the Crow Nation, Chief Joseph of the Nez Perces, Red Cloud of the Oglala Lakota Sioux, Geronimo of the Bedonkohe Apache, and Sitting Bull of the Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux. It is hoped that the inclusion of this series in this year's ArtPrize exhibition inspires a dialogue and sparks educational interest in the Native American history of our country.
