In Flight

Rachel Durfee's avatar Rachel Durfee

Multiple colorful woodblock prints overlap and are sewn together, mimicking the exuberant flight of a butterfly in a summer sky. The image and accompanying poem generate a lively dialog of image, word, thought and emotion. “Frenetic dots reverberating hurl through the sky; abandoning caution, self and sanity. Trust is a freefall, enabling souls to fly in sentient vibrancy. Pulsing joy leans into the wind; catching currents, whirling wings dart, weave and twirl. While glittering songs rise from calliope brains, kaleidoscopic jewels bedazzle longing eyes. Abundance flows in fondest hope, showering glee from core to wingtip. Bursting in pure delight, gratitude climbs higher still - unrestrained exuberance soars limitless in flight.” (Poem by Rachel Durfee)
