Founded in Grand Rapids in 1974, Purple East has become an iconic counter-culture variety boutique offering hand blown glass, licensed band apparel, merchandise and gifts. We are a local, independent business residing in the Heartside district, just blocks behind Van Andel arena. This will be our fourth year hosting Artprize. Purple East is a 17,000 sq. foot, 3 story building. It’s modern architecture boasts concrete, steel, brick, and glass. During Artprize we transform 4500 sq. feet of our main floor retail area into a gallery. In addition to our main floor, this year we are offering our 2nd, & 3rd floors to artists, along with space in our gated parking lot, on our building, and around it. Our main floor offers wall, floor, and window space, our second floor offers floor and wall space, & our 3rd floor offers wall space. All ceilings are 20+ feet tall for suspended art. PE faces US-131 for maximum exposure and accessibility. All art mediums welcome.

Come in and view the creations of 32 artists, spread out between 3 floors. Live music & painting on the second floor. Free onsite parking for visitors and public restrooms available.
