The Least of These

Over the past two years, I've had the privilege of traveling to Haiti for missions trips. Each of these trips has shown me a side of world poverty that I never seen or experienced before. As I've poured through the 1000s of images I captured, one incredible theme popped from my galleries. Faces. Beautiful, emotion-filled faces in impoverished backdrops. But as I put these images together, I came to realize that poverty doesn't always mean sadness and despair. People who live with very, very little still express beauty, joy, passion, and peace well as despair, fatigue and grief. It's been said that the eyes are a window to the soul. If so, the face is the frame that holds the beauty found within the eyes and soul. My hope to is convey the passionate emotions of some beautiful souls in Haiti. I hope the viewer is compelled to wonder and imagine the stories behind the eyes and faces of these people.

Venue & Connection Information

I am currently working with 25-30 images that will be 10x10 inches or 12x12 inches. I'm still planning the framing aspect of this project and working with two options. 1. I could frame each piece and display them as collage on a wall. I would love to have an old brick wall as the metal frames and black and white images would blend well on that type of background. Each image and frame would be mounted to the wall separately. 2. I'm also exploring using one large mounting frame to hold all the pieces. This frame would be approx. 12 ft wide and 4 ft tall. I'm willing to work with a venue with these two options.
