Student vs. Athlete

  • Default

This piece, is a re-work of a project I did long before my Kendall College (1994-97) years. So I've turned the previous pencil drawing into a graphic design piece. The original was a present to a close friend (Mark Howard) a fellow book lover and former Hope College basketball player. And someone who could appreciate the juxtaposition of the basketball and books. The two books represent my favorite author (Mark Twain) and my favorite book (To Kill A Mockingbird). I would like the viewer to weigh how our society truely values sports versus education. Mr. Howard is sponsoring me in this years Artprize event. The piece titled 'Student vs. Athlete will be going to Mark's lovely home. I am secure in the knowledge that it has come full circle. Thank you Mark!
