Do Not Fear Me, For I Am Human
I would like to paint two 24x36 mixed media pieces celebrating two aspects of homosexuality: the seductress and the drag queen. Both of these have been radically stereotyped, sexualized, and destroyed by media and cultural opinion. In my paintings I want to use oil and galkyd to give body and texture to my figures, while showing to the world that homosexuality is as natural as the air we breathe. My work will be highly textured and due to the amount of galkyd being used will have a decent amount of sheen to it. I like my work to feel rough as if it has body, texture, and life to it. In this way my work often makes people want to touch it, which is good, so long as touching doesn't actually occur.
