Parisa Ghaderi (b. 1983, Tehran, Iran) is a visual artist whose work explores distance, loss, and communication. Ghaderi earned her BA in Visual Communications from Azad University (Tehran, Iran) in 2006, and her MFA in Art and Design from the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design (Michigan, USA) in 2014, where she focused on film and photography. Her work has been exhibited nationally (including Detroit and New York City) and internationally (Australia, Iran, Ukraine); her films and photographs have been featured in the 6th International Media Arts Award (Queensland, Australia), Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (Michigan, USA), Fadjr International Visual Arts Festival (Tehran, Iran), and the 6th Image of the Year Festival (Tehran, Iran). Ghaderi's work has been included in exhibitions by such prestigious institutions as the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, the Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art, and the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan. 'Visual Poetry' gained national attention when it was featured in The Huffington Post and The Brooklyn Rail in 2014. Other publications of Ghaderi's work include Video Focus (Stigma Art Press, France), Nineteen Sixty Nine (University of California, Berkeley), Metro'da Siesta (New York), the Michigan Daily (Ann Arbor, Michigan), Unite Women (online), and the Visual ARTBEAT Magazine (Austria). Ghaderi lives and works in Ann Arbor.
