I am interested in patterns, shapes and colors and how they support one another. Looking at things from a distance, I delineate and secure areas, intensifying color, texture and pattern while bending and fracturing spaces to create new ones. The structure of my paintings is similar to the earth's landscapes and layering of surfaces. In this way they are similar to still life compositions. The landscape of fabric can be rigid or pliable. A rock can be hard or soft. A river or vessel becomes more important as a structure which is strong in shape or pattern rather than in what it represents This creates environments where consistencies and continuities of space and reference may not hold true. I have exhibited widely in the United States and Canada. Selected collections and publications include , Joy Horwich Gallery, Chicago, Illinois, West Publishing Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota, McDonald Corporation, Toronto, Canada, West Art and The Law Publication, Iowa Women Magazine. I have a masters degree in painting from the University of Northern Iowa and reside in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
