She was born from the glaciers, rising up from the deep grooves carved into the land. Michigani is never silent; always there is the easy breath of water on stones, the rumble of approaching storms answered by the billows of industry. The ice creeps to cover her surface, but it never will. The sky sings the bright colors of the coming night, and sailors ever watchful are silent. For Michigani takes as well as gives, and her cold caress or violent toss of waves have welcomed many to sleep among her depths.
