Nancy Gildart is an artist and writer working with commemorative and community themes. Her installations often take the form of an intervention or interruption surprising her viewers and encouraging them to reflect, remember and participate. She holds an MFA (2000), and BFA (1998) in Fiber and Material Studies from School of the Art Institute of Chicago, an MA in Library Science (1986) from the University of Chicago, and a BA (1980) in literature from the University of Michigan’s Residential College. She was born in Albion, Michigan and lives in Chicagoland.
