Since the age of one, when I first learned to hold and use a pencil, art has been with me through every journey in my life. It is the way I cope, process information, and dream. From my place of birth in Moscow, to my childhood in Israel living behind a stretch of desert, to my present life in Michigan living as an observant Jewish woman, my art has transformed with me. I continue to be inspired by the desert landscape left behind and my connection to Israel. Present day, I work as a psychotherapist and have a window to people’s strong will to live and love. As an observant Jew, I learn everyday some of the meaning hidden in our lives, relationships, and the world at large. Beginning at Cranbrook with my piece Blue Tension and continuing through the School of Art and Design at University of Michigan, I have been progressively inspired by three-dimensional art work, exploring the complexities and meaning of the world and life. At the same time, in my two-dimensional art work, I have been exploring the abstract other-worldly images created by light, discovered when we look close at what is around us.
