Celebrating The Rivers Of Michigan
“Celebrating The Rivers Of Michigan” is the result of the collaboration of two artists who wanted to bring attention to the many beautiful rivers of Michigan. It is a freely painted interpretation using Impressionist methods of color and light of the Au Sable River near Luzerne. Please see the included 24” x 36” study that was completed to determine shape and basic colors. It is not completed and the artists will make the finished painting more colorful and bright. Pickie also wanted to honor her father, Blaine Brown, who competed during the 1960’s in many Michigan Canoe Races including the Au Sable River Canoe Marathon. We honor him and all the others who have made the Au Sable Marathon one of the world’s great races. The Grand River has its own storied history, but the Au Sable was chosen because it is the “Crown Jewel” for its world class fishing and recreation. The painting also honors all the people and organizations that helped restore and preserve Michigan’s rivers.
