Photography is an exploration for me, a quest to capture subject matter that I can connect with. As a photographer I feel an intimacy with the camera regardless of the process, whether digital or film. It is the art that is made and a connection with the viewer that is essential to me. I would like to consider myself as a new and emerging fine art photographer that prefers to concentrate on conceptual art. Creating something new that investigates the sense of abstraction and reality intrigues the artist in me. In my series "Dressed in Light" I present to the viewer a a relationship between the models body and soul by using light as metaphorical clothing to represent each woman's inner personality that bleeds outward to dress her in light. Born and raised on the west coast of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan I came to appreciate photography at a young age. After many years of working in the healthcare profession and raising a family I returned to school to pursue my life long dream of being an artist. I am presently completing a BFA at the School of Art & Design at Northern Michigan University.
