Fractal Memory
This work is about taking materials out of context, and reassembling them creating a textural painting that tells a story, as well as exploring altered wearable structures and soft sculptures. The highest art forms in many cultures are created for function as well as artistic statement. I would like to propose creating a textile structure that will include using a metal armature, combination of hand drawn images on paper and fabric, a variety of hand-made component attachments and inclusions, re-purposed textiles, manipulated papers, resined fibers, threads, and various metals. As the title would suggest, this piece would be infinitely complex that may include irregular and fragmented parts that tell a story of precious remembrances of the human experience and of an individual’s history, ancestry and culture.
