Anticipation

I am painting Anticipation as a triptych painting. To me it represents a spiritual journey. My goal for the viewer is to feel the stormy clouds and trying times passing and hope it will be an encouragement for them. The inspiration for this painting comes from a Saugatuck beach and nature preserve. I often go there to reflect, pray and enjoy the scenery. I am expressing this through a scene I have been very familiar with, in Michigan, the sun breaking through the clouds and shining over the expanse of blue water giving way to hope and renewal. The first painting will be a scene with the dark stormy clouds beach and dunes. The middle painting will be a scene with the water coming onto the shore, clouds breaking and the sky. The last painting will be a scene with the view out over the lake and the sun coming through the clouds. I am using oil paint with palette knifes and large brush strokes to translate the emotion of the scene.
