NoWeMe
2012 ArtPrize EntrySometimes, with optical illusions, we can’t see the illusion until someone shows us the secret. Then, try as we might, we cannot ‘not’ see it. Just like optical illusions, Art can enable us to see things from different perspectives, to see things ‘anew’. For example, Art enables us to have new perspectives of how technology is improving in its capability to connect with us, both logically and emotionally. NoWeMe invites us to explore the relationship between technology and us, how that relationship is changing, and the implications for the future. The piece adjusts to us as we observe it. Just as we think we understand, the piece subtly changes and our attention is further engaged by new ideas and questions, different perspectives and understandings, and secrets of illusion are revealed. NoWeMe evokes provocative reassessment of the transformations that are destined as our emotional connections with technology impact our connections with people. Will it become ‘no we, just me’?
