Michael Chelich lives and works in Munster, Indiana where he has been accepting and creating commissioned artwork for the last thirty years. He has distinguished himself with numerous portrait commissions, including two Indiana governors, which both hang in the Indiana Capitol, and one US Senator, Richard Lugar, which hangs in the Russell Senate Building in Washington D.C. In the last several years, he has also illustrated three children's books including The Dog and the Dolphin, The Dog and the Jet Ski, and Red's Nature Adventure, all of which can be found and purchased at Amazon.com. Michael's work has been published in several nationally recognized journals on art including The American Artist, Artist's Magazine and the Classical Realism Journal. Chelich's artwork is inspired by the great masters of the Renaissance and Baroque periods of art. He developed his creative style through years of intensive study and practice in the classical methods of drawing and painting. Says Michael, "Whether it is a portrait, animal, still life, landscape or narrative figurative painting, I seek to capture the wonder and beauty of nature's colors, textures and forms and weave them together within the patterns and rhythms of art so that their beauty may be enhanced or potential meaning be thoughtfully conceived and expressed through the voice of visual narrative." Mike exhibits his artwork through the Victor Armendariz gallery in Chicago (www.galleryvictor.com) and through his website at Chelichfineart.com. We are currently working on this website and it may not be ready for viewing, so please check in periodically until it is online and working properly. If you wish to commission Mike for a work of art, contact him by e-mail at Michaelchelich@hotmail.com .
