I am a retired engineer whose mother wanting him to become an artist. I took art in high school but have had no other formal training. I play rhythm guitar and sing in a barbershop quartet. I dabble a bit in pen and ink and watercolor. My hobby for many years was collecting native American artifacts. They are plentiful in northwest Alabama along the Tennessee River where I have lived all of my adult life. I have several frames of artifacts and thousands of broken pieces. I decided to make use of some of these broken pieces by putting them into a work of art. I enjoyed sketching portraits when I was in high school and decided to do a portrait. The mosaic I am entering in Art Prize is the largest work that I have done. I
