Exodus
2012 ArtPrize EntryThis sculpture depicts a band of figures pulling away from the plane of the wall, exhibiting the tension between immersion into a three dimensional space and the two dimensional plane from which the figures are anchored from. These seven figures are 1/3 life sized and will be cast in a water based resin and finished with an oxidized patina of copper and iron. Their placement on the wall will be free floating, suspended as an arc (without the floor that currently attaches the armatures as you see in the "in progress" photos). Each figure possesses their own tension within the group, reflecting the theme of transformation and the dichotomy of two dimensional planes vs. three dimensional space, repression vs. expression, anonymity vs. awareness, and oppression vs. freedom to name a few.
