Megan Seiter is a visual artist living in Oakland, California. Her work consists of meticulously rendered colored pencil drawings of toys, food, and household trinkets. She derives her images from real-life set-ups, referencing photographs for detail information. Megan employs stark compositions in her work in order to create contextual ambiguity, in hopes of generating varied emotional responses from her audiences. Megan was born in East Providence, Rhode Island. As a young adult she attended RISD’s summer studies, and later worked for RiverzEdge Arts as the head of the drawing department. She spent two of her collegiate years at William Smith College, during which time she studied art and history in Rome, Italy. She then moved to Baltimore, where she enrolled at MICA, and began a gallery internship with Jordan Faye Contemporary. In 2009 Megan graduated with a BFA in General Fine Arts. She soon thereafter moved to Oakland, California, where she lives and works as an artist.
