I was born in Midland, Michigan and raised in northern Wisconsin where I had the privilege of living on a farm. By nature I was a very quiet boy, but farm life opened a new outlet of communication with animals for me. I eventually fell in love with horses in particular. I also fell in love with the land. Older abandoned farms always caught my imagination, wondering what it was like in its prime years. I imagined clearing trees that were growing up along the edges of the fields and plowing with a three horse hitch, restoring and replanting the land. Being blessed with the gift of artistry I enjoyed drawing and painting from an early age. To refine my skills I went to college and studied under many art professors, earning a bachelors degree in art education, and paying my way through college by being a farrier and shoeing horses. The intent of my work is to capture the feeling of a moment in time, unencumbered by much detail. My paintings have high contrast with loose, but accurate brush strokes, making my images pleasingly abstract and still believable. I strive to give viewers a glimpse into my heart and soul. My sense of love and responsibility towards nature.
