Love Letter Project

2013 ArtPrize Entry
Add to Collection

The Love Letter Project is inspired by the work of Global Love Letters. Started by two young men in Malta, their inspired idea is for people to write an anonymous love letter every day and leave it in a random place for someone/anyone to find. A love letter is a work of art and the writing of one is healing. Finding one that seems written just for you is even more so. The project originated with the idea of blanketing the city of Grand Rapids with thousands of love letters leaving visitors to GR with a sense of peace and joy. The project blossomed and now includes a video love letter, a campaign that asks people to blanket their own communities with love and two giant, universal love letters on display. We will be hosting a Global March for Peace and Unity on September 21st, the International Day of Peace and will meet at 10 am at the gazebo to share thoughts and prayers and songs. At 11, we will march with our arms full of love letters to disperse around the city.

Venue & Connection Information

An indoor or outdoor setting would work for this project. I can frame the piece to fit the venue. On days with heavy traffic, I would like to set up a small table with art supplies so that people can write a love letter of their own that can be shared.
