My Rescue

2012 ArtPrize Entry

Wonders of this beautiful world, its resources and its inhabitants abound with every breath, every gesture, every glance. As individuals and as a whole we have the ability to make positive changes and help others. Aesthetic expression, whether realized through music, the visual arts, dance, literature or the performing arts holds the power to transport, change, influence and enrich our lives, and those sharing our wondrous planet. In creating and exhibiting My Rescue, I hope to spark a dialogue of awareness. In America 6-8 million animals are taken in by rescue organizations and shelters each year. Saving the precious life of an animal through volunteering, adoption or donation moves well beyond rescue of a fellow living creature, for through these generous acts of love, we too are rescued.

Venue & Connection Information

My Rescue may be realized as an outdoor sculpture, or may be placed indoors, The beauty of the piece lies in the flexibility and variations of the installation. Three to five forms (each standing 4 feet in height) may be linked together in a straight line, or in a zig-zag formation, creating a single statement. The steel construction is durable, and as each form will be realized in a different vibrant tone, the impact of the work will be strong, approachable and playful.
