Mark has been a Musician, Composer, Recording Engineer and Science devotee for his entire adult life. He played locally for many years with his band “Einstein” and also with “Basic English” and “The Upbeats!” He has been teaching at Aquinas College since 1999. He has written and performed on numerous jingles for local businesses including ”Sleep Doctor”, Brann’s Steak House (Just for the fun of it), Haircuts Plus and WZZM news. He worked for twelve years at River City Studios where he first met Kevin Kammeraad and his zany cast. It was here they produced “The Tomato Collection: The Big Album” an ambitious work comprised of over 50 songs, even more musicians, and even fewer Puppets. Educated in Music and Electronics, he took a three year sabbatical to build a 5000+ sq ft home/studio out of field stones and concrete with his cement mixer and some coffee cans. This Art Prize entry marks the reunion of Mark and Kevin, who also makes things with coffee cans. Mark is in his element when he is submersed in a creative project, and this one is no exception. He currently lives at the Center of the Universe (located East of Grand Rapids, near Saranac) with his wife of 22 years and their kitty-cats. Meow.
