Envoy is a 79x99 inch oil on canvas painting. It explores a sort of metaphorical narrative about long distance communication. The glowing blue orb is "the message" that needs to be communicated. The reindeer race wildly through the snow, being driven by a mass of border collies to deliver this important message all around the world. Yet the orange extension cords and lights (symbols of connection), are tangled all around them and strewn behind them, tumbling down the snowy hill in balls. The cords are twisted and might trip up the herd, making delivery even more difficult. Long distance communication and forming meaningful messages is difficult, even in a digital age. There is still blockages, obstacles, and misunderstandings. This painting initially looks like a wild uncontrolled race with a complete lack of control. And yet, trying to convey an importance message to multitudes of people has the potential for the same results: a loss of control, difficulty, and frantic efforts.
