A Garden of Unearthly Delights
2012 ArtPrize EntrySand is fast; sand is fun. Gravity is in play and there are certain things you cannot make sand do -- but you don't learn the limits until you push it too far. I like to push it. This sculpture will feature unearthly creatures in a alien setting that I hope will remind spectators of a garden. We will work on it daily (weather permitting) throughout ArtPrize 2012, so please enjoy watching the sculpture take shape. In addition, we will demonstrate simple yet effective sandcastling techniques periodically and/or upon request, and even give interested kids of all ages ample opportunity to try them out for themselves. Become a sandcastle wizard and have more fun at the beach forever!

Venue & Connection Information
Sand sculpture can be large or small, indoor or outdoor -- my preference would be for a large, outdoor venue where it would be easy to get 100+ tons of sand in and out, but I am also happy working on a smaller scale. The sculpture can be treated to last several weeks or longer outdoors (if it is unmolested by humans) and nearly indefinitely indoors. I will need access to a nearby water source to create the sculpture. Ideally, I would like to make something very large in an open space where it can slowly and naturally deteriorate (or possibly re-worked into something new?)
