Summer Solstice from Sunburst Series
2012 ArtPrize EntryThe sun never sets at the North Pole during Summer Solstice – twenty four hours of continuous sunlight! The Sunburst Series represents the different hours of the day as the sun makes it path across the sky, never dipping below the horizon. The sunbursts are arranged like a quilt pattern of a solar day calendar in painted steel symbolizing the longest day of the year.
