Breathing Room
2012 ArtPrize Entry"Breathing Room" is a full room installation in which a wooden plank floor is installed above the present floor with piles of soap accumulating from removed knots, animating inaccessible spaces while giving the viewer room to contemplate poetic depth in architecture or mystery in general. Corners, cracks, gaps and nooks are mysterious by nature alluding to a darker unknown. Similarly the cleansing power of soap and its ability to grow from and return to nothing has a mysterious and even spiritual quality.
