I am a PhD student at the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts based in Portland, Maine. I am currently testing ideas in bio art, living art that has no monetary value, temporal art, art that draws attention to contemporary issues in politics and the economy through the use of new media, and creating conversations that challenge our cultural ideals. I consider myself a feminist artist, and am influenced by artist/philosophers such as Doris Salcedo, Bell Hooks, Judy Chicago, Nancy Spero and several more. I travel and record my experiences in order to form a better understanding of the world and myself, and the issues that face my community when I come home. My work is about an entrance point into a conversation. We don't have to agree or decide what it is "supposed" to be about, but if we are talking about it, then it is successful.
