I made this piece while preparing a technical paper regarding the sustainabliity of automotive interiors. It is a story about the larger issue of the sustainability of our planet and the history of humans to bury trash. The text is taken from the lyrics of Billy Joel's song "We didn't start the fire" and is meant to evoke the question "Is that an excuse?" And I hope this piece is an opportunity to further the discussion of the sustainability of new products of all kinds.

Venue & Connection Information

My piece is meant to be rearranged by hanging the individual boxes in several different compositions. I think it would be great if the composition changed every week of artprize. Each box hangs on two finishing nails, so changing the number of boxes in a row or the number of rows would require more or less nails.
