Kristy Dubinsky is a professional artist, educator, and co-author of the book Women Who Influence. Kristy uses her creativity to influence young minds in today's society through her 14-year career as an art educator at Elizabeth Forward High School located in Western Pennsylvania. Kristy shares her artistry by exhibiting her works locally, nationally, and internationally. Her artistic passions started at a young age and through the years she has built a diverse portfolio, including realistic paintings, abstract works, mixed medias, drawings, ceramics, photography, and even chainsaw carvings. This is Kristy's fourth year in Art Prize. This year her work titled WEIGHT OF WAR includes a multitude of mixed media techniques which include chainsaw carved sculptures, acrylic and spray paint, plaster, clay, resin, canvas. Kristy is an advocate for arts in education and a firm believer that art and creativity are an essential aspect of bringing awareness to one's creative side, emotional well-being, as well as an understanding of the world we live in. Without the arts we would be left without important things such as music, expression, well designed clothing, books, and illustrations that help us to better understand cultures and our history. Kristy says that because she was able to have a creative outlet and was encouraged throughout her life to pursue art she has been able to succeed and be an influence to others through her work that she displays and through the art that she teaches. Kristy's talents have led her to receive awards at the local, national, and international level. She has done various commissions for clients and businesses in various mediums and subject matters ranging from public murals and chainsaw carvings, to personal paintings and drawings. She has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to build a business with her work utilizing her summers and time after work. Kristy believes that through her art she can bring awareness to one's inner feelings and encourage a positive mindset. Everyone has a creative side and an innate desire for self-expression, some may need a little assistance to bring it out, but all anyone really needs to do is just reach inside. Kristy says that it's not always about an end product, it's the process and how you get there. Art is a journey of exploration, an opportunity to connect on a deeper level, open up and allow your inner being to come alive.
