Black Swan
2012 ArtPrize EntryThis year entry is a life size sculpture of a dancer titled “Black Swan.” When viewed, it appears to be a slab of marble stone, jagged edges as if it was chiseled out of the stone query, held upright between two pedestals. She is then sculptured to a depth of 8-12 inches of relief. Very detailed and delicate in nature, showing even the movement of the wind and roses that have fallen at her feet. Parts of her are fully 3D, while others parts are in 2D relief. She is in a ballerina pose looking down on her audience. Exquisitely beautiful, as she brings the audience attention on to herself. I have chosen to infuse both my loves when it comes to art, my natural ability as a charcoal and graphite artist joining forces with my sculptures. Making it my first charcoal sculpture. Last year entry was "Lady of Dance," which showed at the Gerald Ford Museum, and came in top 25 on the west side.
