For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Having a child identified with Williams Syndrome was a daunting diagnosis, but God has given us the strength to face each day and even inspired me creatively to bring a positive light to something society categorizes as abnormal and disorderly. I am dedicating this ArtPrize piece to our son who was created perfect in God’s image, unique and beautiful. I also want to share information about Williams Syndrome with the public, hopefully engaging minds and attitudes in a new way. I am an English as a second language teacher in a local school district, and while most of my formal training has been in the areas of education and language, my heart resides in the arts. I use much of my ingenuity for cooking, sewing, interior design, painting and other projects. My support comes from my husband of nine years and laughter from our two children.
