Karen Palmer

Twin Lake, MI, United States

I've been drawing from childhood, but have dabbled in a variety of mediums, including graphite pencil, wood burning, amigurumi (mini crochet), and painting. This is my second year of drawing with white charcoal pencil on black paper, and this is my second ArtPrize entry. My first entry, "K9 Teams of Kent County Search and Rescue", included a collection of 9 portraits of my teammates, including my own K9 partner. In 2018, I honor humans and canines in military service. In the fall of 2017, I was also honored to have my first piece in the Collectors Show in Grand Rapids, and once again exhibited in the spring of 2018. Both pieces were white charcoal portraits of wildlife. I am fond of revitalizing vintage photographs in graphite pencil and drawing both humans and animals in singular or mixed media pencil portraits.
