Throughout my business career I imagined I would make art when I retired, and the reality came true in January of 2015. Starting with drawings, then monoprints and now paintings, my works gravitate toward unexpected textures and arresting if simple images. In this painting, Cocoon, the proportions of the bed and the late afternoon lighting evoke place in a personal way for the viewer. The colors in the folds of the bedspread catch the warmth of the season. This will be my third year participating in ArtPrize
