TOP 25 ArtPrize 2012! "Norm" is a large dragon made entirely of recycled materials. His color is red from the original paint on the recycled material he was made with. "Norm" is 100% green, right down to his salvaged base. I welded over 6958 scales in 1922 man hours for his completion. His mesmerizing scale pattern gives him motion. Dragons have always been a part of my imagination. I played the game Dungeons and Dragons as a child, inspiring me to create my own big, bold, and lifelike dragon. When my dog Norm passed away in December 2011, during my grieving process, I found myself molding his spirit into the dragon. His smile, him sitting with a bulging chest and his watchful eye. I placed a heart inside his chest as a reminder that death is a natural part of life. It's important to respect the process, no matter how hard it may be. We honor those who have passed on, by embracing the gift and blessing of life we experience each day, while extending to others the love in our hearts.
