Jodi Schmalz is a native Grand Rapidian. She has a passion for art and performance. She has been involved in several visual and performance art projects including UICA's Live Coverage and Festival of the Arts. She founded and participates in the annual 50 for 50 art show (2008, 2009,2010,2011). She has shown work at local establishments such as Kava House, UICA, Preusser's Jewelers and The Goei Center to name a few. She volunteered as an art mentor for "My Story Through Art" (2010,2011) an art program put on by Bethany Christian Services. Jodi embraces change in both her art and life. Her most familiar works are her figurative and portrait pieces done mostly with charcoal or acrylics. She is impressed, excited and inspired by the Grand Rapids art scene. Jodi is thankful for her husband; Trever and sons; Cohen (9yrs.) and Mayer (2 yrs.). She thinks it's sweet and funny when Cohen describes her as a "famous artist".
