Jerry Luciani is a New Jersey born and raised artist, now residing in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is award-winning visual journalist and fine artist. His series of “head” sculptures takes an in-depth look into the inner workings of the mind and its mechanical processes. The manifestation of perception, reasoning, reflection, contemplation, comment, anguish, emotion, fear and passion are brought to (and into) the surface of these “heads” using tools and other manufactured objects as the visual devices. The heads represent the everyday man; the shape and colors are not intended to be a representation of any specific being, but act as the canvas that all viewers can relate to. A closer look will show that each head is unique into itself, with variations in the characteristics of the sculpt. The “heads” are design to initiate a reaction from the viewer, not necessarily the same from each viewer, but something that touches upon what is happening in the viewers’ own head. His sculptures and other fine art have been shown in various exhibits, galleries, showcases and juried art shows throughout New York and New Jersey, including the Center For Contemporary Art. Jerry's artwork has been featured in: "25 Contemporary Artists" by The Registar-Star, OneFiveGallery.com did a "10-point artist profile" and LadderandKey.com did a feature on the "modern conceptual sculpture of Jerry Luciani."
