A digital c-print mounted on aluminum of a large American Barn iconic in stature and scale. The work measures 6 feet high by 15 feet long. The artist shot and composited 90 individual photographs to achieve the level of detail displayed in the final digital c-print. American Icon depicts a giant American barn in perspective. Floating on a black background, and removed from its normal surroundings and contex, the barn's shadows and roofline communicate a strong geometric form that verges upon the abstract when viewed from a distance. Upon closer inspection the details of the barn emerge, with splinters, nails, and bolts becoming visible.
