birth
As a photographer who is currently working as a professional labor assistant and apprenticing with a home birth midwife, I have witnessed and captured in photographs the depth and beauty of the birth experience for families. It is always a transformative event for everyone involved, and how the woman and her baby are cared for and treated in pregnancy and throughout the birth process impacts whether that transformation will be positive or negative. My photographs explore the birth experience and how it affects the development of a woman into a mother, bonding and attachment and the formation of the family, and most importantly the development of the baby as an individual and unique human being in our society.
