Jeffrey Augustine Songco (b. 1983) is a San Francisco based multi-media artist. Born and raised in New Jersey USA to immigrant Filipino parents, his own identity quickly established itself as a narrative of personal negotiations between his homosexuality and devout Catholicism. Classically trained in ballet, his artwork is primarily informed by the site of the body. He explores the construction of a contemporary spiritual identity, or the meaningful experience of personal transformation. He holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute. Jeffrey has exhibited throughout San Francisco including Steven Wolf Fine Arts and the Asian Art Museum. He was a nominee for SFMOMA's 2012 SECA Art Award, and a finalist for the 2011 Asian Contemporary Arts Consortium Writing Fellowship, the 2011 Artists Wanted: Power of Self competition, and the 2007 Cut and Paste Digital Design Tournament. His writings have appeared in Art21 Blog, Bad at Sports, The Huffington Post, and Hyperallergic. He would like to be the US representative to the 2023 Venice Biennale.
