MicroDoodle Moon

2012 ArtPrize Entry
Add to Collection

My MicroDoodle Moon is a compilation of 25 years of ideas and dreams about the man in the moon. The Moon has been around since the beginning of the earth. I have been collecting and writing stories about the moon. Songs, poetry and moon lore have been a part of our culture for 1000's of years. Every month the Moon transforms itself from the new to full. As the cycle repeats, the oceans and the Earth transform in rhythmic vibrations of life. Using a .13 tech pen the transformation is complete. From afar you see the man in the moon. Up close you see a world of micro doodles & words. I began by painting several layers of phosphorescent blue & teal paint. The entire piece glows in the dark. I drew out the moon & began to fill in the outer area with my micro doodles.. The piece took 400 hrs to complete. It will draw the viewer in & with the aid of magnifying glasses you can zoom in and never see the same thing twice. Explore......... Venue & Connection Information

I just need a couple spot lights on the art. The piece does glow in the dark and can be seen if placed in a room where the lights can be turned off occasionally it will surprise viewers, but isn't necessarily needed to draw a crowd. Viewers do need to get close to the piece (3 to 4 inches away) to appreciate my detail, but do not need to touch it. It is sprayed with an acrylic, archival, topcoat for protection. I will provide magnifying glasses for viewers to get an intimate close up vision of the art. From a distance my art is invisible except for the big picture, the Moon. As you move closer to the canvas the viewer can begin to see tens of thousands of micro doodles, words & a form of stipple I began to draw called consecutive dots. Hundreds of rows of single points I call it, "no pointillism " Random thoughts, stream of consciousness, meditative motions surrounded by the energy of the sunlight being reflected back to earth transforming a the night, bathed in moonlight.
