A lifelong resident of Michigan, I have been involved in the art of photography (which literally means "drawing or painting with light.") From a very early age, the ability to capture an image and keep and share that memory for a lifetime fascinated me. With just a few cereal boxtops, I purchased my first camera. Growing up, my family and I took most of our vacations in Michigan and I was amazed, trip after trip, at the scenery this state has to offer. As I grew up and had more freedom to do what I wanted, I spent more time traveling and photographing Michigan. I began reading instructional books on photography and subscribed to several photographic magazines. I was a photographic sponge! Finally in 2000 I decided to pursue a career in photography so I began my formal training at the New York Institute of Photography. After finishing my schooling, I opened a portrait photography business and had instant success. The business portion of my education taught that this was where the money was but it wasn't where my passion existed. That passion is landscapes. Whether the countryside, the Great Lakes, or the heart of Grand Rapids, landscapes. My work has been featured at M-Live and has been described as "incredible" and "majestic". Eventually that passion won out and in 2010 I began traveling, creating images of Michigan again. I'm always looking, always watching, even on trips to the grocery store and gas station. Beauty is all around us; we just have to look in every direction as we travel. In 2014 I created a website to share my images for all to enjoy. In the Fall of 2014, I began to participate in ArtPrize, my entries being shown in the much sought after center-city locations of Grand Rapids. My inspiration continues to come from artists such as Galen Rowell, Art Wolfe, and of course Ansel. I look forward to continuing my artistic journey...
